News Update: May 2022

Since 2020, the SouthEast Innovation Institute (SEII) has facilitated intellectual property (IP) strategic development for companies in the SBIR/STTR sector. SEII has assisted with a number of trademark registrations and have had over 12 companies, 3 in this last quarter alone, issued patents to technology/prosecution we have advised on in this period. The issued patents are in array of fields from healthcare to defense, and will enable the companies to more effectively commercialize their innovations.

Further, SEII has grown its engagement with companies across the SBIR/STTR program, actively engaging with the DOD, NSF, NIH, etc. to acquire funding and enable growth for companies. SEII is proud to support a number of companies as their research institute on Phase I and Phase II awards across an array of agencies and fields, from Communications to Digital Health.

In 2022, SEII has identified market gaps and potential within the Energy and Agriculture Sector, and have expanded our capability and resources in an effort to support companies in these areas. SEII has already seen success, in 2022, SEII has already supported a company in an award from the Dept. of Agriculture.
